ADUs (Accessory Dwelling Units)

An ADU is a secondary housing unit on a single-family residential lot. ADU physical forms have a lot of variations.

• Detached New Construction ADUs - backyard cottages, granny flats, laneway houses, etc.
• Garage Conversion ADUs - above a garage or workshop or attached to it. Sometimes called garage apartments or carriage houses.
• Addition ADUs - sometimes called "bump-out ADUs" are extensions built onto your existing home.
• Basement Conversion ADUs - commonly called basements apartments, mother-in-law units, in-law units, secondary units, etc.
• Tear Down and Rebuilds.
